The Pimlico Community Advisory Board

Giving Our Community A Voice.A Say.A Vote.

The Community Has a Voice

The Pimlico Redevelopment presents a rare opportunity to deliver significant community benefits by revitalizing the 140-acre site, enhancing the neighborhood through beautification, creating new recreational facilities for shared public use, and improving essential infrastructure. As part of a larger community, the racetrack’s transformation must reflect the needs and aspirations of local residents, who deserve a voice as key stakeholders in the process. The true success of the Pimlico Redevelopment will be measured by how well it uplifts the entire Park Heights community, fostering growth and development in the neighborhoods surrounding the Pimlico Race Course.

About Us

The Pimlico Community Advisory Board (PCAB) was established on November 13, 2020, to enshrine public collaboration in the redevelopment of Pimlico Racecourse, home of the Preakness Stakes, and adjacent parcels.  Its main purpose is to provide input from local residents and stakeholders around decisions involving land use, neighborhood improvements, and the impact redevelopment will have on surrounding neighborhoods. The PCAB will serve as a liaison among various stakeholders and advocate for equitable development, ensuring that community voices are heard throughout the redevelopment process, which is part of a broader effort to revitalize the area.

Our Focus for Quality-of-Life Enhancements

Residents deserve sustainable development and resources including but not limited to:

The Pimlico Redevelopment should prioritize job training for Park Heights residents and create a plan to maximize their hiring for construction and development projects.

The redevelopment should include a comprehensive safety plan that actively involves and includes input from surrounding neighborhoods to ensure the well-being of all residents.

Baltimore City and Park Heights Renaissance should focus on addressing vacant and blighted housing by making properties available to developers and supporting funding for housing development.

The redevelopment should comprehensively address the negative impacts of traffic, parking, noise, and litter in the area.

The design of the Pimlico Redevelopment should prioritize pedestrian safety, connectivity, and accessibility, incorporating features like curb extensions, well-marked crosswalks, wide sidewalks, bike lanes, and bus shelters.

Adequate and attractive lighting, signage, and security measures should be provided on the Pimlico property and in adjacent neighborhoods, ensuring lighting does not disturb residential areas.

Baltimore City and local organizations should seek opportunities to create additional green spaces within and around Pimlico to enhance neighborhood connectivity, walkability, and recreational opportunities.

The urban design within Pimlico should align with the surrounding neighborhood to create a cohesive and integrated community atmosphere.
